April 2026 DTBM Missions Update
Dear Praying and Giving Ministry Partners—
Sometimes during the long days and short nights of teaching, preparing, counseling, and traveling we both get very weary. So God sends us sweet reminders.
That happened last week. We had finished teaching at a Bible Conference on Friday, and were driving several hours to our next class teaching week. Along the road we stopped for lunch at Panera. Where it was I am not sure, it was just on Google Maps along the road. We pulled in, ordered, ate, talked, prayed over the next week, planned our sessions, and were getting ready to get back in the car to keep going.
At that moment a precious, 81-year-old, smiling, white-haired saint with his wife walked over to stand at our table. He introduced himself as Pastor Rod and asked if we were the Barnetts. Bonnie told me he had already walked by us two or three times, back and forth while we were talking and smiled. Finally, he just came up.
What did he say? He told us, “I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I PRAY FOR YOU TWO EVERY DAY”. Wow, in a state 1,900 miles from our home, in a city I didn’t even know where we were—God sent us a living, breathing, smiling, praying reminder—that we are being prayed for and should keep going and serving and watching the amazing life transformations we witness on a weekly basis.
Pastor Rod is a pastor, and he has pastored for over 50 years. He told us he found our classes on YouTube and they encourage and challenge him in ministry every week, so much that he began to pray for us daily. WOW, that was humbling to think about. He and his wife became an amazing dose of unexpected blessing and encouragement that only God could send us out of the blue. And at just the right moment when I was saying to Bonnie, maybe it is time to slow down, cut back, stop living out of suitcases, and sleeping in so many different places that sometimes we have to ask each other where we are this week because it all runs together.
This is now our ninth of the “ten good years” we asked the Lord to give us while reaching the next generation. Back when we were preparing to transition to missions, our Mission Committee told us they always wanted us to remember where ever we went, what ever ministry we were involved in—they were praying. Over a hundred families signed up to go with us in prayer as our Prayer Corps. Most of them wrote us notes and letters to send us off, plus almost all of them also began to financially partner with us.
Soon after Bonnie & I were commissioned and launched into full time missionary work. Our sending church had an unforgettable way to send us off. They charged us to faithfulness in the ministry of the Gospel from the Scripture, then they asked us to share what the Lord had burdened us to do. Then the amazing close.
The whole church began to stream forward until score and scores of saints were standing around us never widening circles of hands on our shoulders, and then on the shoulders of those surrounding us until everyone of the several hundred people were all connected. They prayed, and prayed, and prayed. We were amazed, and shed many tears of joy.
That was over 800,000 miles and at last count 30 countries ago. What God has done is nothing short of unbelievable. We have witnessed over 250 individuals confess Christ in salvation and hundreds and hundreds more begin an ever deepening walk with Him. So, God REMINDED us DEEPLY this past week through Pastor Rod and his wife—of all you who also pray, and all you who also support us.
We are so thankful. We are at the start of our longest stretch of teaching and discipling for 2026. I am teaching Acts weekly through November both here in the USA and from September onward in Europe and Asia. Plus we have several Bible Institute series to teach, Summer Prophecy Conferences, Missionary Conferences, and other classes. So keep praying.
We will keep going and can’t wait to see who the Lord drops in our path in the days ahead to keep reminding us of His great plan and the power of prayer.
With love and gratitude,
John & Bonnie Barnett

March 2026 DTBM Missions Update
Dear Praying and Giving Friends,
When I think back over the last month one word sums up so many memories: Canadians.
As you know this is our Bible Conference and Bible College season for ministry. Bonnie and I travel between various locations in the US and teach. For the past 4 weeks we have been amazed at how many students from Canada God is using us to lead to Christ and disciple. Here are some of their stories for you as you pray to ask God to sustain, protect, encourage, and keep them going.
Also, as we describe them to you, I hope that you can see their radiant faces and smiles, and hear their voices of joy at what God has done in their lives and continues to do KNOWING that YOU are part of all that God is doing through us. We are your missionaries, your hands, your feet and your voices to these saints God is raising up north of all of us, there in Canada.
The first couple were easily in their late 70s. They had flown from Nova Scotia and landed in Florida, rented a car and drove to the Winter Conference. They were part of the Canadians enrolled in the Thessalonian Course on DTBMA. They are studying each day, marking their Bibles, writing down their Scripture truths in their Devotional Journals and GROWING. They stood in line and told how they live for Christ, love him, and share Him in their area. For us who just finished teaching and recording the 20 classes of the Thessalonian Epistles in the studio, and now getting to teach the same classes in the Rapture Ready Living Conference. It was amazing to think what God continues to do with His Word.
Then it was a couple in their 50's from Alberta, then another younger family from British Columbia, then a single mom from the Northwest Territories, and finally a college aged couple from Ontario. We got to hear from, listen to and rejoice with these ten Canadians, scattered across five of Canada's ten provinces, and three territories.
Those ten are part of the now 701 registered and active students that are enrolled in the DTBM Academy (DTBMA). Canada has the most students outside of the USA that we serve, followed by over 500 students in the UK, another 524 in Australia, and 467 in South Africa. The Lord knew what a thrill it would be for us to hear about the Bible Studies they were doing, the small groups they have started, and the ministry they are doing in their local churches. That is why we are sharing this update with you. We hope your hearts are overflowing like ours.
Our summer conferences finish up in August when we get the huge privilege to spend a week teaching over a hundred full time, career missionaries that work with the United Indian Mission and live on Native American Reserves across all of Canada's provinces and Territories. Again we will teach Rapture Ready Living from Paul's Epistles to the Thessalonians.
Thanks for another great month you have prayed us through. Thank you for each of your gifts that have provided all we need to study, travel, teach, and disciple. We are excited and thankful. These are very tumultuous times we are all living through and it is the best time ever to serve the Lord.
See you next month Lord willing. We can't wait to see and then share what all the Lord has done.
With love and gratitude,
John & Bonnie Barnett

February 2026 DTBM Missions Update
- They are DTBMA students,
- They watch me teach classes.
- Along the way they hear me say that my wonderful wife Bonnie makes all this possible by doing the cameras, audio, and lighting... capturing all that in a class recording.
- NOW GOD--is pouring out His blessings.
- GOD IS--Saving souls.
- GOD IS--Discipling the NextGeneration.
- And prompting them to write and walk up to share what He has done.
- In the United States: Over 10,000 students are currently enrolled.
- Internationally: We are ministering daily to over 900 students in Asia and Africa, 635 in Europe, 472 in Australia, and 607 in Canada.
- In Brazil: We received a moving testimony from a missionary working in the slums of São Paulo, who uses our Eschatology and History as curriculum in his classes to train adolescents to become urban missionaries in communities dominated by drug trafficking.
- In Northern England: While standing in line for tea, a young waitress recognized John’s voice. She had been a DTBMA student for two years and asked for prayer for her unsaved husband—fruit bearing in a place we had never physically visited before.
- In Korea: A couple who had been raised Buddhist and ensnared by false doctrines recognized us at breakfast. They had found the truth of Christ through our online classes and came to our table specifically to thank the Lord for the work that steered them to salvation.
- In Florida: A college student flew from California to meet us, sharing that he had been saved from a party-fueled life eight years ago by watching our online classes, calling John his "spiritual father".
- We taught through this "drivetrain of the Gospel" from start to finish, helping students mark their Bibles to lead others to Christ.
- We also taught "The Way We Got Our English Bibles," showing new believers how God preserved His Word through history.
Whether recording in our studio or traveling 22,000 miles across Europe and Asia teaching Proverbs and 1 Thessalonians, the hunger for deep biblical doctrine is growing.
- Expansion: We are looking at a timeline for expanding our ministry outreach in the Spanish, Russian, Korean, Portuguese, and Arabic languages.
- Resources: We need funds to cover equipment and resources to expand the number of courses and keep the online DTBM academy free for students everywhere online.
- The Next Generation: We are committed to ongoing domestic and international travel for training young missionaries who want to reach their generation for Christ.
September 2025 DTBM Missions Update
Our Dear Team in Christ,
When we asked you to uphold us in mid-September as we launched on our Fall Mission, we hoped for great things. Well, here is the update--God has given us a "taste of Heaven". That what we call these past weeks.
We have been investing our hearts, lives, strength, and voices into teaching, training, counseling, and praying over believers in a local church and local DTBMA students. This local church has welcomed and evangelized refugees and immigrants to the UK from 20 different countries around the world.
We are so refreshed to see what Christ can do. Every ethnicity, cultural dress, style of singing, praying, and worship gets all blended together by Christ. Just as Revelation 7 describes what will happen globally in the Tribulation, this church is seeing today. We met people who had come to Christ from so many different "kindreds, tongues, tribes, and nations." How thrilling.

Now on to current needs. We are still teaching Romans. We also shared a fantastic course on The Way We Got Our English Bibles." That class was really a blessing as we traced the manuscripts, copied by monks, stored in monasteries, and translated by scholars, some of whom became martyrs for their brave work in the face of hostility to the Gospel and the Scriptures. It is so encouraging to see new believers understand how God preserved and brought them the Bibles used to lead them to Christ, and that they now read, study, and memorize.
In the next month, three more European countries are ahead of us as we teach Paul's Epistles. Then, we move on to Asia to teach more History of the Bible classes, Paul's Epistles, and the Book of Proverbs. So please pray for health as the weather chills and the rains start. Also for strength as the days get filled with balancing study, preparation, prayer, teaching, travel, discipleship--with just keeping all the daily mundane routines of washing clothes in the bathroom, buying food in the markets, and finding our way between widespread and distant places.
You are a wonderful team. Thanks for praying. Thanks for giving. Thanks for encouraging us all along the way. Here are two pictures we couldn't resist sending of our "Taste of Heaven" month.
We are your missionaries, for Jesus' sake--
John & Bonnie Barnett
Hebrews 13:20-21
Dear Partners in Ministry,
Thank you for another month of your partnership in prayers and your participation in our work through your gifts. Each hour of each day, we see students in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia taking the DTBMA Courses online and responding with joy in Christ. We are also seeing consistent responses to the evangelism outreaches we conduct, as well as to our discipleship and training ministries. We pass along the joy to you from so many who share that they are now assured of their salvation and have started the walk in the Light.
Bonnie and I just finished our last class recording downstairs in the DTBMA studio. We have been home for almost a week between teaching trips. Our next Fall journey is always the longest of the year--seventy days teaching across Europe and Asia. Thank you for your encouragement, prayer support, and financial support that keep us fulfilling God's purpose for our lives in this generation. Pray for us as we pack, prepare, and finalize classes for so many precious Next Generation students who want to reach their generation for Christ.
Here is a summary of my recorded and posted challenge to each of you in these sad, dark, challenging, and shocking days we have lived through here in America. If you want to watch that challenge on YouTube, here is the link: https://youtu.be/QfE8UYMP3ig
God Wants Us Seeing Clearly Where Things are Headed:
- END OF DAYS PREP—How Do I Protect Myself from Coming Mega Deceptions?
- 1—GET JOYFUL: Personally Study & Memorize the Word (Jeremiah 15:16; Matthew 4:4)
- 2—GET ACCOUNTABLE: Join or Start a Small Group (Hebrews 10:24-25)
- 3—GET PROTECTED: Get hard copies, and learn to use a Study Bible and a Systematic Theology (2 Timothy 2:15)
We will be in touch next month from Europe, and the following month from Asia--Lord willing. Thanks for your prayers and investments.
Your partners in the Gospel,
John & Bonnie Barnett
Hebrews 13:20-21

Dear Dr. Barnett, I have been learning from you since I discovered you. I'm still a baby at 59 years old but I Love the BIBLE, I LOVE learning, although I am a sinner and a wretch, JESUS, saved me,and let me just say I WAS LOST... Now am found. I want to Thank you in my most Heartfelt way. GODBLESS YOU and again THANK-YOU...I hope and pray l'll be able to see you in church somewhere, sometime...GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS,Listening to you I understood and becsme saved 12-10-2021 as i surrendered myself to the way of Christ order his way no longer mine. You are Of God's way, a master teacher, and it is a sharing of joy to listen to you and your sharing the how Jesus wills us by scripture and examples into his narrow way, life and how to share evangelizing joyfully and sobering our independent convicted sinful way freeing us of what we once were into fruitful servants giving our service to our King and discipling new souls. I am in and share the Bible every day as the bread of life. Another master instrucion today. God bless your ministry sir.Thank you John and Bonnie for your beautiful rich works of fruit.
"Mr. John, it is a pleasure to write to you. I do not know if you will have access to this message personally. But, the simple fact of writing to thank you for your classes on YouTube, especially the classes about prophecies and Eschatology.I am a simple servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, working as a missionary in slums (underprivileged communities) in the city of Guarulhos, São Paulo, Brazil. Our mission is to evangelize and disciple, especially children and adolescents from these communities, which are usually dominated by drug trafficking and prostitution.By the grace of God, we disciple within the doctrine and Word of God. We opened a space where our small church operates and also the classes for the children. We have already trained 9 adolescents as urban missionaries, and some are already studying English and also teaching English to our children.I want to thank you because l am preparing a specific class on Eschatology and History to teach these adolescents who are thirsty for the Word of our Lord—(drawing from your classes and notes).Thank you very much; I will always be praying and interceding for you and your entire family. God bless your life."
March 2025 Update
That was almost 8 years ago, at the same time as so many of you helped launch us into full-time missionary teaching and travel. He was saved in 2017, stopped living in sin with his girlfriend, started attending a local church, went on to Bible College, and now serves in a local church in California doing evangelism and street ministry. This precious testimony, shared by the hour in every available moment between sessions, became another fantastic reminder of what God has chosen to do through us as we serve.
Did you know he was roughly the 200th person to share a similar testimony with us since our 2017 launch into missions? At that same conference, four others shared that they had also come to Christ as a result of watching DTBMA classes. Now, that should impact many of you. Over these past seven-plus years, we have asked partners to help us build a portable studio, get the equipment needed, and pay to transport it as we travel and teach. Those classes have been prepared, edited, uploaded, and sent out over a million times online.
- God is at work.
- He is using your investments and prayers.
- Scores of people have come to Christ.
- We get to meet them for you and tell them that God is doing all this because we have a team that surrounds us, supports us, prays for us, invests in us, and rejoices at each one who comes to Christ.
We are packing up tonight, and we will move on to our next assignment tomorrow. Over the next five weeks, we teach 350 young people face-to-face. We will teach forty 50-minute classes, answer hours of questions, as we disciple, counsel, exhort the next generation.
What a BLESSING!February 2025 DTBM Missions Update
- A Texan paramedic and his wife started a 52 Chapters small group. With tears he shared how they always wanted to serve the Lord and never found a fit. Then while watching the 52 study they started a small group and feel such blessings in fellowship and ministry.
- A Syrian family of 5 messaged us on FB and wanted to meet at Grace. They radiantly shared that they were studying and applying the truths of the Word Filled Family one chapter each week.
- A Russian TMS student shared how he used DTBMA in his research for communicating doctrine as he trained and served.
- Then there were the pastors of smaller churches from Colorado, Oklahoma, and California who used the DTBMA courses for midweek services, men’s and women’s small groups. Each said over and over how thankful they and their congregants were for the Biblical teaching and encouragement.
- Finally were the dearest of all, a 94 and 95 year old shut-in couple, we had loved and shepherded back during our Grace Church days in the 80s. Now with limited sight, mobility, and hearing they have continued to pray for us all these four decades we’ve known them. They even call to check in on us overseas. So they sat for 3 hours with their precious Caregivers and asked us to, “speak loudly and share as many stories of God’s work through your ministry as you can.”
January 2025 Update Dear Supporting Partners in Ministry, We thank the Lord for each of you. January has been an entire month of Bible Study, class preparation, travel, teaching, and more study, preparation, travel, and teaching. Each month rolls around more rapidly the older we get. As we slow down in what we can do, it seems time speeds up. That formula sounds like what Psalm 92 and Ecclesiastes 12 instruct us to prepare for, right? The sweetness of knowing that we can't do anything apart from what the Lord's strength and blessing allow us to do--is so comforting. The essential update is that we have passed 800 Asian and African online students and 400 Europeans enrolled and regularly taking online classes at the DTBM Academy. That is what the Lord energizes us to prepare for each day. Plus, in March, we start teaching in East Coast classrooms around 1,500 students that we get to teach, train, counsel, disciple, and be blessed by here in the USA. So we invite your prayers for good preparation. Join us in asking the Lord for strength, wisdom, insights, endurance, and compassion for the needs of so many we are preparing to train and prepping to disciple. Also, in light of the string of aviation accidents in the news, pray that we will be able to share our hope and peace in Christ as we travel. On a ministry note, we are looking to expand our outreach in the Spanish language as we continue to roll out more DTBMA courses. Your faithful financial support and prayers make all of this possible. All that God does through us is in partnership with you, so we thank you for your part, and the Lord for His great blessing. That's all for this month. God bless and keep each of you because you are such a blessing to us. With our love, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
2024 Update Dear Partners in the Lord's Work-- As Bonnie & I look back over 2024, we wanted to share three big takeaways with each of you. 1--The first lesson we took away from this year is a potent reminder of the POWER OF THE GOSPEL. All year long, and everywhere we went, we saw it. People approached us in airports, hotels, churches we visited, and even at a mall food court. They each said nearly the same thing--either they had come to Christ for salvation, or they had come closer to Him. The results were also almost the same in each one's life. They shared how their lives had changed and were now focused on God, His Word, and His Church. 2--The second lesson was the incredible joy that comes from a MINISTRY OF DISCIPLESHIP. We started our ministry year meeting with a sweet couple who came to Christ under our ministry during COVID-19. We met with them daily for a week, answered questions, taught them, and enjoyed their love for Christ. Our ministry year finished working with new believers at the church plant of another of our students. As you remember, that was in Japan, Earth's second largest unreached people group. We have trained students through DTBM since 1998, so seeing what God does is fantastic. 3--Our last lesson was the deeply encouraging FAITHFULNESS OF GOD'S SERVANTS. When we started serving with DTBM in 1998, our supporters partnered with us. They were from our Seminary days in SC and our California, Rhode Island, and Oklahoma church days. Then, when we were launched in 2017 from our Michigan church, God amazed us even more. This precious band of friends has entirely supported us for the past eight years. So, this letter is an offering of thanks to God and each of you. Thank you for praying for us through all these years. Thank you for allowing God to stir your hearts to give sacrificially. Please pray as we expand the scope and depth of our Bible teaching ministry in 2025. We are scheduled to teach overseas in February. We teach around the US and Canada, March through August. Our ministry year finishes teaching God's Word in Europe and Asia from September through November. Thanks for partnering with us. What a strategic year to be alive and serve the Lord for each of us. Yours Because His, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
November 2024 Update Dear Friends & Partners in Serving the Lord-- As you read this, our two-month Eurasian Mission is almost finished. We are starting the long, multi-flight, trans-Pacific journey home.
Thinking back over these past two months fills our hearts with joy. We started in the UK and finished in Japan. In between we taught DTBMA students in Europe, Asia, and Africa. A summary of what we have watched God do through us these past eight weeks in ministry would be—It has been overwhelming to do, amazing to watch, and fantastic to see the eternal fruit. Bonnie & I were invited to serve alongside Dave & Cheri, precious church planters in the northern UK, back in 2008. We launched our Grace Energized Men & Women series at their church that week. Coming back over and over these past 16 years has refreshed us and energized us to see how God is at work at Gateshead Church. When we walk through the doors of this vibrant fellowship we are surrounded by men and women who are—saved, discipled, and mentored new believers from 19 different countries in Europe and Africa. Gateshead is a reflection of an Acts 11 Antioch-type Church (an assembly with a heart for local evangelism, and global missions), and an Acts 18 Corinth-type of assembly filled with miraculous life transformations (1 Cor. 6:11-13 for such were some of you). Then we taught segments across Europe and finished up here in Japan. Now as the Thanksgiving snowstorms fill the news, we are starting across the Pacific and hope to land in Denver which has seen so much snow at the airport already, that it made an entire segment of the NBC evening news we watched last night! Thanks for sending us in late September with your love and encouragement. Thanks for upholding us in October & November in prayer through all the challenges. Thanks for helping us with every financial need as we travel and teach. Thanks for being partners with us in all that God is doing to shape and prepare the Next Generation for Gospel Ministry. We are yours Because His, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
October/November 2024 Missions Update Greetings, Dear Partners in Ministry, We are in the final segment of our 2024 ministry cycle, serving in Asia. Here's a HUGE blessing the Lord sent our way, and we wanted to share it with you. “I want to be like you,” was the soft voice we heard at the elevator in our hotel here in Japan. The sweet Japanese woman about our age worked at the desk. They work long hours in Japan, so we can’t count how often we’ve said hello, asked questions, or just smiled and waved as we passed. This time, it was different. We had checked out, and we were on to our next place of ministry. She knew we were done in her hotel, so she followed Bonnie and said those precious words to her. It shocked us. We smiled. We went around the corner, and guess what Bonnie did? Yes, you’re right if you know her. Out of her purse came God’s Simple Plan of Salvation in Japanese. View the beautiful tract here: https://dtbma.com/2024JapanTract.pdf Right back, her tract went to precious Mie. She listened wide-eyed to the Gospel. She took the tract between her upper and lower outstretched hands—like it was a bar of gold. She bowed, put the tract over her heart, and said, “I will read this. I want to be like you.” Well, that’s why we’re here. Mie was a gift from God. No one follows people and says such heartfelt words unless God's Spirit is at work. Bonnie had a Divine appointment for her Gospel tracts, which she always carries for each country we serve. Will you pray for Mie? Will you pray for us to finish well in Asia? We get home in December. We can’t wait to see who the Lord puts in our paths next! Yours Because His-- John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
September 2024 Missions Update Dear Supporters of us as we serve, This has been a month invested in the Lord. We started in northern Michigan, teaching Matthew 24-25 to about 300 dear people at a family camp weekend. We saw many dear friends from over the years, as well as six precious families from our home church, Calvary Bible of Kalamazoo, who came to encourage us. I had never gotten to teach through all six of those special application parables Jesus gave us, so it was a double treat. We then turned around, repacked, and went on a donor care and Gideon State Convention trip. We always try to stop in and visit those who faithfully have supported us over the years as missionaries. These visits do more for our hearts, minds, and spirits than you can imagine. It is a pure delight to catch up and rejoice in all the Lord is doing. We challenged the faithful and dedicated evangelists who serve with the Gideons International ministry. They pass out Bibles and Gospel tracts and do regular personal evangelism. I was able to teach two messages. The first was a summary of "The Jesus Path" (all seven parts of the Lord's Prayer) and then the "Greatest Day of our Life" (the Bema Seat of Christ). We returned to our DTBM Ministry Center and repacked for a research trip, preparing for our overseas teaching assignments. First we researched for our upcoming course on Scriptural Foundations—How To Know Your Bible is True. This is a series of classes on the Inspiration, Transmission, Preservation, and Translation of God’s Word, the Bible. We have been deeply blessed by the powerful resources at the Phoenix Seminary. Many online resources are available on their website if you’re interested. Then, we worked on the upcoming History of the Bible course materials we will teach from now until after Thanksgiving in Europe and Asia. We reviewed all the course materials from the classes I taught at The Master's Seminary. Just think of that: 37 years ago, I taught the pictured 60 TMS students Church History and the History of Doctrine (those pictures are all on our Facebook page where we post ministry pictures and messages @Pastor John Barnett). Thanks for praying. This fall is a HUGE time for teaching doctrine to our DTBMA students in Europe and Asia. As the world grows darker--TRUTH MATTERS. We leave in two days to travel and teach in the UK, Malta, Italy, Greece, and Japan. We get home after Thanksgiving. Thanks again for partnering to support us. We send you our love and gratitude for all you do. Yours Because His, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
August 2024 Missions Update Dear Ministry Supporters, August was not only full of hot weather--it was also a strategically fruitful month of ETERNAL MINISTRY. Your prayers were appreciated as we repeatedly flew and ministered from the Word of God. One of the highlights was being at the headquarters of all of the Word of Life Bible Institutes and then teaching at the summer Bible Conference. Hundreds of students surrounded us as we served in NY, all of whom we had taught both in the US and on some overseas campuses. One of the significant facets of the WOL training is that they immerse the students in not only the CLASSROOM (where they study the entire Bible in depth over one school year) but also the MISSION FIELD (each student goes on a cross-cultural mission trip) and PERSONAL EVANGELISM (the students go to major cities like NYC and others to do street evangelism)--then all that is finished off with 8 WEEKS of serving as counselors in Word of Life's summer youth camps. This summer, thousands of campers came to WOL Camps and were presented with the Gospel, and HUNDREDS of them trusted Christ, and others dedicated their lives to serve the Lord. Watching all this go on in person is such a THRILL for us. As Bonnie and I walked the WOLBI campus and around each WOL Youth camp, we prayed for the students we had taught. We spend two solid weeks each year with the Freshman Class in New York and two more weeks with the Freshman Class in Florida. So we have poured our lives into these 400-plus students and now see God using them in powerful ways. That brings us to this letter's final item: we are gearing up for our Europe/Asia Mission from September through November. The highlight will be to join the evangelism and church planter missionaries in Japan that we trained for two years, discipled and mentored over the next few years, and invested in, prayed for continually--and now work alongside them in Japan's second-largest city. They recently sent us pictures of their outdoor baptismal service of the newest converts to Christ who wanted to declare their allegiance to Christ, their obedience to His command to follow Him in baptism, and their desire to make that public for all to see and hear. Wow, what great things God is doing in Japan and worldwide. Each Bible institute we serve worldwide--sees a new crop of these young people each year. We are invited to teach them, counsel and disciple them, and then joyfully watch them go and serve. That joy from the Lord keeps us afloat through the challenging class preparation times, the arduous travel over long days and nights, and pouring out of all we can into them for two weeks. Thanks for the joy of sharing life and ministry with each of you. We are yours because we are His, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
July 2024 Missions Update Dear Fellow Servants of the Lord, Paul reminded the Philippians that their support of his ministry made them fellow partakers of the eternal fruit of the Gospel that he proclaimed everywhere he went. We want to thank you for that, too. Your ongoing support, prayer for us, and investment in this work make all that we do possible. This month has been another fantastic time of watching God open doors for ministry and open hearts to His Word. Several of you who are new with us asked for a bit of an outline of what we do as missionaries, so we thought it would be good to restate what the Lord has designed for us in these special years of missionary travel. For most of these past seven years, we have followed this pattern: every day is invested in studying God's Word to prepare teaching lessons on books of the Bible (this week, it is 1 and 2 Thessalonians that we studied). Those lessons are packaged into classes with slides, student notes, assignments, quizzes, and tests (most classes are either 10, 15, or 20 sessions of 50-minute classes). We then follow a schedule of travel to ministry centers in the USA and about 15 to 20 overseas locations where we teach. This year, we will be in 5 states of the USA, Canada, Honduras, the United Kingdom, Malta, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Japan. When we arrive, we always minister to the missionaries who work around that ministry center and disciple the students who attend the Bible Institutes. We teach classes (usually 3 hours a day plus chapels, Q&As, and evening dorm devotions) and eat most meals with the students. We also get to preach in local churches in the area (last year in the Philippines, a chicken came in the open door and joined the service, as did countless insects).
- Life overseas is never dull.
- The food is never familiar.
- The air conditioning is usually absent.
- But, the blessings are always endless.
If you ever want to stay young, spend time with these teens and twenty-somethings. They are so full of life, enthusiasm, energy, and dreams of ministry for the Lord. It is contagious. So we thank the Lord for each of you that make these the greatest days of our lives. Watching God at work fills our hearts with joy. Next month, we will share our burden as we prepare to minister among the second largest Unreached People Group, the 127 million Japanese Buddhists. We will be serving alongside four precious couples we have personally taught, discipled, mentored, and supported in their outreach ministries in Japan. I can't wait.
- See you next month, Lord willing.
- Thanks for your love, prayers, and investments.
We are yours because we are His, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
June 2024 Missions Update Dear Friends & Partners in Ministry, What a blessing to have returned to our home in the USA after another six weeks on the road. As always, when anyone travels, we are met by overgrown grass, tall weeds, cobwebs, and dust. We also enjoy catching up with wonderful friends from our local church who diligently pray for us as we come and go. As we catch up, open letters, and pay bills, here is a typical note that we get weekly from somewhere in the world. We hope this encourages you as you pray and support us in ministry. God is using His Word, taught through us, because of your investment!
Dr John & Bonnie, I thank the Lord for you both and for helping me discover your teaching ministry online. I am a church planter here in Cape Town, South Africa. I have used your materials in our church and outreach ministries in one of the townships. Thank you for making your materials available online and so easily accessible. I have already learned so much through your teaching. Your ministry significantly impacts our people, and we have studied through Isaiah using your materials. Each week, I am posting the 52GC series to our church. If you have any plans to come to South Africa, you would be welcome to come and teach and preach in our ministry…
Isn’t it wonderful when God allows us to hear such encouragement? Another fantastic blessing was from the last week in Europe. We heard those nine of our favorite words again. What are those words? “I asked God to send someone to help me.” This time, it was in London. We had already taught a week of Church History classes in Oxford, then another week in Copenhagen, and now we were teaching in London. When we are out of the classroom, we do Evangelism in our host countries. You know we take Gospel tracts for the languages we will encounter on each mission. In London, there are scores of nationalities everywhere you look, so we always ask God for Divine appointments. After half an hour of friendly talking to a young lady we had met, we asked her about her eternal destination. The look on her face was priceless. She paused and then said that she had come to such a low state that as she started that morning, she looked up and asked God to please send someone "to help me know You." Bonnie and I participated in ten Divine Appointments, just like that one, over these past few weeks. Each one was precious, unique, and thrilling! If you want to be thrilled and stirred by seeing God at work, just ask Him to give you a person with whom He wants you to share the Gospel. Each time we take a Gospel tract, bow, and ask for an appointment, the Lord always follows through. Each time, we are amazed to find a heart prepared to hear the good news of all their sins forgiven by Jesus, who died to offer them salvation. We are starting our summer ministry circuit in the USA at the end of the month. Until then, we will be teaching and recording DTBMA classes. Please pray, as hundreds of students are enrolled and processing through those DTBMA classes. Our staff has their hands (and hearts) full as they answer many questions, counsel, and disciple these eager new and old followers of Christ. Thanks again for allowing God to use you in this ministry. You encourage us with your prayers and gifts. You enable us to travel and teach, and you surround us as we do so by your prayers. What a blessing! I can’t wait to share all that the Lord does over the next month as we serve together. With our love,

- A young man with the biggest smile possible walked up at the end of the very first class and said, “Hello, Dad. He told me how he had hit the bottom, overwhelmed by drugs and evil. One day, his dad said, “Why don’t you watch this guy’s class?” It was a link to our new website (DTBMA.org). Isn’t God amazing? God’s grace saved this young man through watching and being drawn to salvation, watching a twenty-hour class on the Book of Revelation. I want never to forget the look on his face as he walked up!
- Another day, a young lady walked up, waited in line, and said, “I gave my life back to Christ this week. Thanks for being God’s tool to point me back to Christ.” Isn’t that all we want to be? Tools in the Lord’s Hands? That simple reminder thrilled our hearts as Bonnie and I watched her turn and walk away into her new life.
- Next, one of the international students came up at the end of the first week. In his broken English, but with a huge smile, he said, “This hour was just for me. I’m stepping into that circle. I’m surrendering.” He was referring to me, telling me how we have the opportunity to renew our dedication to God each morning. Like stepping into an imaginary circle on the floor in front of us, pausing and looking up to the Lord and offering our lives anew and afresh to Him. That is what ministry is all about as we travel—pointing students to Christ. He alone can meet their spiritual needs always and anywhere!
- Finally, at the end of the two weeks, a young man with orthodontic braces on (another reminder of how young these students are) came up. He waited until the end of the line of students. Everyone else had rushed off to lunch, and with tears in his eyes, he said, “My life has been transformed by God’s truths during this class.” Wow, those kinds of moments are certainly a process. Just think what God will do with his days ahead.

- We have had tropical storms and blizzards as we serve from Florida to New York.
- I have taught classes with power outages, audio system failures, projection screens blinking on and off, and no heat or lights.
- He was born and raised in a Christian home, abandoned everything, and was living like a pagan.
- After he hit bottom and reached out for help, his pastor told him he needed to go to YouTube and watch a class about the End of the World. Of course, that is the tie to us.

January 2024 Partner Update
Dear Friends in Ministry Partnership,
Bonnie & I are just finishing our month of teaching classes at the DTBM Studios. We now have over five thousand registered students taking our free DTBM Academy classes. This month we taught Paul's Epistles, the Life of Christ, and several prophecy updates. The schedule of study, class preparation, and slide-making is such a blessing. But to add--Bonnie running the studio, and watching her praying for all the students as I teach is AMAZING. To get to partner in life and ministry with Bonnie is one of those huge blessings no one told me was coming! Beyond teaching and counseling the classes we have another wonderful ministry to report--the SMALL GROUPS. In many of our classes, I end with three applications. The first is to start a small group to share the Word. After saying that almost every class we have taught for three years we are SEEING God doing great things.- Today I heard from Sweden. A student there said, "I did it". He has taken his notes, translated them into Swedish, and started a small group. This week he had 9 learning the Word with him--in Swedish! Pray for this wonderful work the Lord is doing there.
- Yesterday we heard from students in Minnesota. They started a 52 Greatest Chapters Sunday School class in their church. At first, it was just them, the next week ten came, and this week they have 31. Wow, all are watching the class, doing the study all week, writing in their journal, and sharing their application prayer.
- Daily we hear from someone, somewhere in the world who says the same thing--"I am starting a small group like you challenged me to do!" God is touching hearts all over the world. God is stirring people to get serious about His Word in daily life. God is using us--you who pray and give, and Bonnie & I as we teach and disciple to see ETERNAL life changes. That's what keeps us going each day as we serve.

September 2023 Partner Update
August 2023 Partner Update
Bonnie & I have prayed for, taught, and invested in nearly every face (and heart) in that picture. That is just a tiny glimpse of the amazing work God is doing in the hearts of young people. They want to serve the Lord. They want to invest in what lasts forever. They want to please the Lord with their lives. Prayer Updates 1. The key prayer requests from August are for the students we taught, who we met with--who are going into restricted-access countries through sports and medical work. They are brave. We are praying for safety, wisdom, and fruit for the Gospel in many lives. 2. In September we are in the UK and that ministry is primarily encouraging bi-vocational pastors in tiny churches as they start home study groups. Many UK groups are using the 52 Greatest Chapters studies. One group asked us to do a challenge on evangelism for their group that goes out to the fall fairs and craft show weekends that dot the UK. 3. In October we teach in France & Hungary. The challenge for us there is to clarify doctrine for the students who live around so much skepticism about the Bible and Christianity. We are teaching Paul's Epistles, so we just pray God will powerfully use His Word. 4. Finally, we invest the first three weeks of November in Korea at the most amazing training center. We teach Proverbs and Isaiah plus that is where Bonnie has discipled more ladies than any other spot we've served. So strength, endurance, wisdom, and clarity from the Spirit for teaching. So many of the students from this campus go to limited access areas so it is a very strategic time. Thanks for sending us, holding the ropes for us, supporting us, and interceding for us as we go on your behalf. God is doing great things and we are so grateful He is using us in these latter days of our lives. With love and gratitude, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21July 2023 Partner Update
June 2023 Partner Update Dear Ministry Partners of DTBM, This past month was astounding to us, as we watched the Lord at work. The biggest blessing was the time serving the 400+ staff, students, and alumni at the WOL Philippines 50th Anniversary Conference. I was tasked with teaching "How to Rejoice When Serving at the End of Days". In this picture, you can see students from across the Indo-Pacific Region as well as staff and alumni who are all committed to reaching their generation with the Gospel of Christ. As we all know, as Jack Wyrtzen once said, It is the duty of EVERY generation to reach THEIR generation for Christ! Just to prepare for that topic resulted in an immersion into the ministries of Jeremiah & Paul. As with any dive into God's Word, it ALWAYS transforms us as we study and apply those Divine truths FIRST into our life. We also were able to keep up our teaching schedule the rest of the month and watch God continue to save and transform lives as well as nurture and disciple others through us as His servants reaching the NextGeneration. One current need is prayer for the work on the DTBM Academy. We are enrolling students and they are taking courses. The response and reports of lives transformed have made us want to add as many courses as possible for the students to experience. Please pray for wisdom as to what courses and classes to add next to DTBMA and for how to prepare follow-up materials for those who are getting saved, and dedicating their lives back to the Lord. What amazing challenges to have in these Last Days. Our thanks to God for each of you who pray, encourage, and support us each month as we travel through this Ten-Year Mission with DTBM, International. John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
May 2023 Partner Update Dear Ministry Partners of DTBM, This month Bonnie & I have been serving the Lord by teaching and training Next Generation students in East Asia. It has been fascinating to see the power of God reflected through His creation all around us. Last night the remnants of Super Typhoon Mawar's torrential rains were literally beating against the windows of our apartment here in the Philippines. By the way, they have their own naming system here in Manilla, and this storm is called "Betty" in the newspapers and TV weather reports. The lightning dances across the sky, the thunderous booms, and rain that hits so hard it sounds like hail against the glass. As we teach live and studio classes, the Lord reminds us that all around the world there is such a need for solid Biblical doctrine to ground believers in truth--against the storms of deception and false teaching that grows in the last days. My classes this month have been mostly teaching the Book of Titus. Paul left Titus in Crete to set in order the saints in the truth. God has blessed us to be a part of His plan in our generation of training new believers in Evangelism and solid doctrine. Thank you for praying for us. We soon head back to America and gather for our Annual Meeting with the Board of Directors of DTBM. We will be reporting on all the amazing ways the Lord is using the new DTBM Academy to train new believers in Europe, Asia, and Africa--as well as in North America. Please continue to pray for us as we travel and teach in the USA & Canada for July and August, before going back to Europe and Asia from September through November. Your faithful prayers and sacrificial gifts invested for eternity keep us going in ministry. We thank our God upon every remembrance of each of you. With love and gratitude, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
April 2023 Partner Update Dear Partners for Heavenly Investment, If we could summarize these past weeks for each of you who partner with us by your prayers and financial support, it would be thus: you have gone with us these 10 weeks, two countries, five states, 135 classes taught (3 a day, 5 days a week for 9 weeks + 1 travel week). NET ETERNAL RESULTS? Hundreds of NextGeneration students taught, discipled, challenged, counseled, and poured into... for the Glory of God. Thanks for encouraging us and keeping us going. Each of you are a BLESSING! We now have 3 weeks to reload our suitcases, sleep in familiar surroundings, greet the saints of our local church, catch up with our children and prepare another 4 weeks of classes as we head to SouthEast Asia to challenge and train a few hundred FrontLine missionaries serving across some of the most densely populated cities and islands of Asia. Then, as we pull our suitcases across the concourses of the 13 airports we fly through over the next month we will PINCH OURSELVES and say, “Can it really be possible that God has blessed us in these final years of our lives to still be USED BY GOD, to equip & train both FrontLine & NextGeneration servants of the Lord?” What a BLESSING. Thanks for INVESTING in us as we go and serve! With love in Christ, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
March 2023 Partner Update Dear Friends, Investors & Prayer Partners, We had the greatest month preparing and then teaching through the Last Week of Christ's Earthly Ministry. That week is called Passion Week (Palm Sunday to Easter/Resurrection Sunday). It was amazing to retrace and emphasize every element with our students. God heard your prayers and many were so responsive to the Lord's Word. We also had one of the most spiritually encouraging ministry weeks of our year teaching for the first time to a Bible Conference--the 52 GREATEST CHAPTERS OF THE BIBLE. We shared FTGC week # 29-34 (from John 1 through Romans 1). It THRILLED our hearts to see hundreds and hundreds of eager, zealous students of God's Word. We heard so many encouraging testimonies of all that God is doing in their lives--using us as His servants teaching His Word. Thanks for praying. We are in the middle of six solid weeks of teaching back and forth between campuses in Florida and New York. Thanks again for being used by God to keep us going on this mission of training the NextGeneration. With love and gratitude, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
February 2023 Partner Update Dear Partners in Ministry, It was a joy to teach an overview of Biblical Prophecy in Central America during February. As we normally report, the students we teach in person are amazing, very responsive, and a great encouragement to our hearts as we serve. But what is not normal is the impact of sharing those classes online. In February the online students taking the prophecy course called "Return of the King" were the most people we have ever had participating in one series. As we expand the new site DTBM Academy ("DTBMA"... with all the study guides for each lesson of each course) we see the Lord multiplying our shared impact. We have had more questions and more requests for help, counseling, and resources than we can ever remember seeing. The uncertainty of the world around us has been used by the Lord to open many hearts to His Word. During this month it has also been a joy to continue with our classes taught in Acts as well as prepare for March & April's classes at the Word of Life Bible Institutes in New York and Florida. Teaching through Acts is a great reminder that God wants to use average and normal people to accomplish extraordinary ministry for Him. The anticipation of Christ's coming and our calling to be witnesses is so clear as we weave Paul's Epistles into the Book of Acts. Please pray for us as we continue to study and prepare each day. Also as we travel between those campuses and conferences these next two months. Your love, prayers, encouragement, and support are how the Lord keeps us going. We thank our God upon each memory of all of you. Your missionaries sharing God's Word with the Next Generation, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
January 2023 Partner Update Dear DTBM Partners in Ministry-- Bonnie and I have had an incredible month of January serving. We couldn't teach, record classes, travel to conferences, and serve at mission stations without your prayers and support. Thank you for standing with us in every way. Here is what the Lord has done through us, because of your prayers and investments. 1--PRISON MINISTRY: We have seen the Lord bless our prison ministry as several Christians who work in halfway houses that transition prison inmates back into society, are using our courses to disciple these men and women. We hear from them as they study, and are so blessed to be able to pray with them and rejoice in the ways the Lord is leading them into new lives for Him. 2--NEW BELIEVER FOLLOW-UP: We were able to go to our home church in Michigan where we were commissioned and sent out to missions in 2017. While there I taught three services and had many meetings with staff, missions team members, and so many dear saints we have known and loved since 2008 when we started serving there. But the most amazing part of the visit was getting to meet two couples who live next to Calvary Bible Church who were each SAVED during Covid, watching classes on YouTube. They thought we still were at the church across the street so they walked over and asked to meet with me. The short story is they were enfolded, disciples, and have become a growing part of that local church. We met with them shared Scriptures with them, and were overwhelmed to see again the greatest miracle of all that God is STILL DOING! 3--PAUL'S LIFE & LETTERS: We are still working each day preparing, teaching, and recording the classes for each chapter of Acts through Philemon. This current course is proving to be so exciting to do and then teach. Please pray as we labor every day on these 115 chapters of the New Testament. Our goal is to have the entire survey of the NT taught and captured for the DTBM Academy to make available to students globally, free of charge. We are making study guides, charts, and everything needed for the Lord to use these classes in many lives. Well, that's enough for now. We head to the airport at 430AM in the morning and fly on these next three months of mission work. You are going with us because of your partnership. May the Lord richly bless each of you for your kind and encouraging partnership with us. With our love, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
2022 Yearly Partner Update
Dear Partners in Ministry,
Happy New Year! Last year was full of ministry opportunity and thanks to your continued faithfulness and God's favor, Bonnie and I were able to teach around the world, seeing Pastors trained, Christians challenged with Scripture and the lost come to saving faith in our Lord Jesus.
Looking ahead in 2023, Lord willing, we will continue to develop class materials, lessons and teaching videos. We will begin our travel this year in February and be mostly on the road through July. After a quick turnaround, we will be back on the road all over the world until Thanksgiving.
We have exciting plans for the launch of Discover The Book Academy. With the Lords favor, we hope to launch that within the next month or so. The Academy will be free, and will allow you to access and view all the lessons in one given series conveniently from one site. We are planning lots of content, tools and resources to help you 'discover the book'.
We covet your prayers for provision, safety and success in ministry this coming year. It's all possible because of God's faithfulness and your continued partnership. We could not be more grateful or feel more loved and appreciated. May the Lord bless you richly for your faithful participation in our ministry work.
Thank you and bless you in Jesus name,
John & Bonnie Barnett 1Thessalonians 3:12-13
December 2022 Partner Update Dear Partners in Ministry, As I type this thank you note for your continued faithfulness in supporting us and praying for us along the ministry road—my heart is flooded with so many faces and voices of those we have seen God transform their lives this year. We are seeing men and women, young and old come to Christ for salvation and start growing in amazing ways. In 2022 we heard from dozens and dozens of them. We have challenged, counseled, nurtured, and rejoiced with each of them. Most have found a local church where they have gotten baptized and are starting to become a part of an active body of believers. One of the most stirring reports was sent by one of our students named Phil, that God used us to be a part of his radical transformation. Here is his testimony he wrote out and gave to me:
Several years ago the Holy Spirit used you and your ministry to reach me when I was in total darkness and sin. I was a loveless person in the deepest despair. I was a drug-addicted homosexual, homeless, HIV positive, having practiced witchcraft, and for lack of better words completely destitute. While in my sin the Holy Spirit reached me through your sermons on YouTube. Your videos would pop up in my video feed! Your teachings on homosexuality were eloquent and I understood my sin was not too big for God. Your teachings on drug addicts as people and sinners made sense to me, even while I still used drugs. He used you to reach me.
After many years of this lifestyle, I had overdosed on drugs and I could literally feel death all around. I cried out to Jesus and begged him not to send me to hell. I knew I was going to go to hell. I knew I was destined for a place that was separated from him. I told him I was sorry for how I lived my life. I told him I needed him because I couldn’t save myself from hell. And Jesus did save me. He transformed me. Today I am married to a beautiful woman and she is pregnant with my second child. She is HIV-negative and both of my children are healthy and beautiful. Can you believe how good The Lord is? He is so good. He is amazing and wonderful. Today I have a career and we own our home. Jesus Christ restored me more than I could have ever known. But, what is most important is I have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I love when he gently wakes me up in the wee hours of the morning just so I can pray and commune with Him. God is so good. I cannot wait to meet Jesus one day.
I wanted you and Bonnie to know that your ministry reached me when I was in great darkness and the Holy Spirit used your words and led me back to Jesus. Remember me in your prayers. I’m still learning how to guard my heart and mind against besetting thoughts. The wickedness of the flesh and devil is real some days and I find my mind is the area I have the most difficult time. But, I introduced your teachings to my wife and my mother and we watch your teachings now. In my personal reading, I’m in Isaiah. And I love your study guides online.
That is what God is doing through your investments in us as we serve. We are scheduled to teach all during 2023, Lord willing. We are scheduled at training centers in the US, Canada, Central America, Europe, and Asia. All that is only possible by God’s grace. The empowering of the Spirit of God. The provision of all expenses by faithful saints like you, and your partnership praying for us each day. Thank you in Jesus' Name for loving us, helping us, and cheering us along as we serve Him together. Yours Because His, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
November 2022 Partner Update - A VIVID Reminder for Eternal Thanks
As Bonnie & I waded through the crowds at Denver airport this week and stood in line (it was full like the picture above shows),we were again reminded of one of the shared ministry gifts the Lord sent us. A smiling man pulling his bag walked straight up to us, hand extended. He looked us each in the eyes and said, "You led me to Christ and discipled me with your YouTube messages all through Covid." He then sweetly thanked us, turned, and melted back into the crowds. I turned amazed, and said to Bonnie, 'Do you think that was that an angel, or a real person?" After 10 weeks on the road, teaching 5-6 days a week across four countries we were full of joy and tired. The Lord reminded us there at DEN (one of our favorite airport codes that signal we're close to home) that we are TAKING PEOPLE with us to Heaven. But, the very next thought that flooded our hearts was that each of YOU is what makes it possible for us to lead more than 100 people to Christ over the last 36 months of Covid. Your investment in supporting us financially and prayerfully makes us partners in taking these people to Heaven. Just like this man walking straight up to us at the airport, I believe we will each have similar experiences in Heaven when we meet those the Lord SAVED using US together in partnership--as His tool. May your hearts be full of joy this holiday season. Remember what Paul said in 1 Th. 2:19-20, that we will share the joys of taking people with us to Heaven. It is a THRILL to see the Lord doing that through us as we serve in partnership with each of you! With our love, John & Bonnie Barnett - 1 Th. 2:19-20
October 2022 Partner Update Dear Fellow Citizens of Heaven-- Thank you for helping us to serve here in Europe this month. This comment from one of our students captures what we love to do so much. The student said--
Teacher John that class message was deep, it went straight to the heart, it was confirmation and the answer to my spiritual warfare. Now I feel comfortable, talking to the saints of God and the Lost. Thank you so much for helping me with this spiritual warfare, God Bless
Bonnie & I live in student housing, walk almost a mile each way to the grocery store, carry our food and water back to the apartment, and then climb four flights of stairs to our place. When we open the door and walk into this totally different world than we ever dreamed of when we started on the mission field in 2017--we both smile, and one or the other says, "These are the BEST days of our lives!" We love every challenging and tiring minute we are here because God is using us to touch so many students' lives. Here are our three BIGGEST delights of October--
-
- TRANSFORMED LIVES--We taught several classes on "Denying Ungodliness by Grace" where we taught the students the daily disciplines of reading the Word devotionally, applying it to specific areas of our lives by prayer, and finding a small group to cultivate personal accountability.
- LIFE-LONG HABITS: One of our precious moments was when we explained, demonstrated, and testified about how "Scripture Memorization & Meditation" has changed our lives. I showed the students my verses cards I'm using here in Europe each day (they are picture files in Apple Notes of the dozens of worn-out, dog-eared cards I carried in the USA over the years). Then we showed them how to choose a verse, memorize a verse, and start to prayerfully meditate on that verse. The results are astounding when they see life-long struggles with specific sins start to fade as they apply the Sword of the Spirit to their specific struggle.
- EUROPEANS REACHING EUROPEANS--We were able to lead a "How to Share the Gospel" training session complete with marking the Romans Road in their Bibles, a demo on how to witness, and a long-term prayer strategy for reaching people around us with the Gospel. Then we launch them each week to go out and try to share what God has done in their life with someone this week. We also participate and have some wonderful witnessing appointments the Lord always gives us.
We all have been through an amazing month of global and local events. I just love reading the news over here in Europe that is so completely different than the news we hear in America. Praying for each of you who so faithfully stand with us over here as we serve. We hope to make it back to the States by Thanksgiving unless the Lord Returns--and then we will look for you in Glory! Yours Because His, John & Bonnie Barnett Hebrews 13:20-21
