So how is it with you? The Word of God is designed to be our Divine instructor. As our Divine Teacher, we sit in His classroom as He asks us:

 

  • Is my Word at work ADMONISHING YOU? Psalm 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. (KJV); 1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition (nous = mind + tithemi = lay upon), upon whom the ends of the world are come. Is my Word at work PROMOTING SPIRITUAL GROWTH? 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (KJV) (Congo).

So how do we adopt Ezra’s strategy? Here are so elements to practice getting alone with God.

  • START WITH HIM: Try to spend at least 12 minutes each day in reading God’s Word and seeking to find one truth to hold on to all day long.
  • SPEAK WITH HIM: From that time alone with God, think through your entire day. Ask HIM what would be the best use of your life for this day.
  • STOP WITH HIM: Try to also get in the habit of a weekly time of evaluation. Just a half hour reflecting on where you are, and where you are headed in life and ministry.
  • STAY WITH HIM: Finally, try one time of strategic planning each month, to truly reflect on life for a couple of hours. Take a spiritual retreat. Sit with a pad of paper, your calendar, and an open Bible. List your priorities for the next month. Pray over them, change them, decide upon them and then do them.

 

Psalm 119 is a Psalm or song written by God to summarize the power and purpose of His Word. Longer than all but three of Paul’s epistles – we have a book within a book, by the Author of the Book about the Book of Books!

 

Psalm 119 is a call by the Lord to each of us – to unleash His Word into our lives today.

As we open to the 119thĀ Psalm this morning, we open to the greatest commentary ever written on the Bible.

In Psalm 119 twenty-one times : verses 4, 15, 27, 40, 45, 56, 63, 69, 78, 87, 93, 94, 100, 104, 110, 128, 134, 141, 159, 168, 173.Ā 19:8 statutes.Ā This synonym looks upon God’s Word as orders, charges, precepts, etc. They are viewed as the Governor’s governings. Precepts’ relate to man’s moral obligations as enjoined by God.Ā  HIS RIGHT STATUTES REJOICESĀ  (v. 8a 6490Ā The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart) = The Word of God is THE DIVINE DIRECTIONS. God’s statutes giving directions to only secureĀ  place in the universe, causing great joy because we know what is absolutely right. The right statutesā€”ā€œStatutesā€ means ā€œprecepts, rules for daily living.ā€ Some rules are wrong rules; God’s Word is right. Obeying the Word brings blessing to daily life. (6490) Precepts, µydwqp Pikkudim, from dqp pakad, toĀ take noticeĀ orĀ careĀ of a thing, toĀ attend, haveĀ respect to, toĀ appoint, toĀ visit; because they takeĀ noticeĀ of our way, haveĀ respectĀ to the whole of our life and conversation,Ā superintend, overlook, andĀ visitĀ us in all the concerns and duties of life. ForĀ thou hast commanded thy precepts. They are there, all ready made by the Living God. He has not just suggested that man should try them as one possible alternative. COMMANDMENT tells of the Divine decrees, authoritative and imperious.Ā Ā commandment.Ā This word is related to the verb ā€œto commandā€ or ā€œorder.ā€ The Word is therefore also perceived as divine orders. `Commandments’ are authoritative orders used as religious principles. Divine Captain and orders. HIS PURE COMMANDMENTS ENLIGHTENSĀ  (v. 8b 4687the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes) = The Word of God is THE DIVINE DECREES: God’s commands giving a clear portrait ofĀ  God’s non-optional absolutes, without any flaw bringing light on every area. The pure commandment—See Pss. 12:6; 119:140; Prov. 30:5. Commandments, twxm Mitsvoth, from hwx tasvahĀ toĀ command, give orders, order, ordain; because they show us what we should do, and what we should leave undone, and exact our obedience. If any distinction is to be drawn practically between this word and the next, it is thatĀ commandĀ is the simple idea of ā€˜doing what you are told’. What God hasĀ orderedman to do, or not to do. The verb is very regularly followed by the words used; henceĀ ‘imrahĀ means an utterance and the purport of it. Not the same asĀ dabarĀ (No. x below), which refers to the articulate utterance of it. The first occurrence is in Genesis 4:23, and is renderedĀ speech. In plural only once, Psalm 12:6 (the only place where the plural is found). In Psalm 119 it occurs nineteen times : videlicit, 11, 38, 41, 50, 58, 67, 76, 82, 103, 116, 123, 133, 140, 148, 158, 162, 170, 172. WithĀ dabarĀ the two occur forty-two times. `Word’ is speech or utterance, a general word for the disclosure of God’s will. Divine Word revealing His will; (565) SPEECH hrma imrah, from rma amar, toĀ branch out, spread, orĀ diffuse itself, as theĀ branches of a tree; and which is often used for aĀ word spoken, a speech. This often occurs in the Psalm: and we regularly translate itĀ word, and put no difference or distinction between it and rbd dabar, No. 8.: but it is not exactly theĀ same; rbd Ā dabarĀ may apply more properly toĀ history, relation, description, and such like; while, Ć»trma Ā imrathecha, thy word, may mean anĀ immediate oracle, delivered solemnly from God to his prophet for the instruction of men. The Word that we meet in Christ also declares, ā€œI came that people might have life and have it more abundantly.ā€ law ofĀ the Lord; hrwt Ā torah, from hry Ā yarah, toĀ instruct, direct, putĀ straight, guide. It is God’s system ofĀ instruction, by which men areĀ taughtĀ the knowledge of God and themselves,Ā directedĀ how to walk so as to please God, redeemed fromĀ crookedĀ paths, andĀ guidedĀ in the way everlasting. LAW tells of the Divine instruction relative to character and conduct.Ā  PERFECT, without flaw or defect, lacking nothing; it RESTORES the soul, refreshing the inner life as food does the body.

In Psalm 119 it occurs twenty-three times (always in plural, except four times), videlicit, : verses 7, 13, 20, 30, 39, 43, 52, 62, 75, 84, 91 (ordinances), 102, 106, 108, 120, 121, 132 (as thou usest to do, see note), 137, 149, 156, 160, 164, 175. JUDGMENTS tell of the judicial decisions and sentences of Jehovah.Ā judgments.Ā This term looks upon God’s Word as conveying His judicial decisions. `Ordinances’ (also `judgments’) refer to legal pronouncements, rules of divine administration. HIS TRUE JUDGMENTS liberATEĀ  (v. 9b 4941Ā the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether) = The Word of God is the Divine Decisions (REV.19).Ā Ā  THE DIVINE DECISIONS. God’s judgments, His final word on everything! Non-negotiable living. True, righteous judgments—God’s evaluations of men and things are true; He knows all things completely. It pays for the Christian to believe what God says and not to depend on his own evaluation. Lot made this mistake and lost everything.;Ā Ā  (4941) Judgments, µyjpĀm Mishpatim, from jpĀ shaphat, toĀ judge, determine, regulate, order, andĀ discern, because theyĀ judgeĀ concerning our words and works; show theĀ rulesby which they should beĀ regulated; and cause us toĀ discernĀ what isĀ rightĀ andĀ wrong, andĀ decideĀ accordingly. The wordĀ righteous, as we have seen in previous psalms, can also mean ā€œvictoriousā€. God’s ordinances, if obeyed in a person’s life, let him be effective in his relationship with other people, and thus live victoriously. But ā€œkeep a grip on me, Lordā€ (verse 8), he asks, ā€œtill I have learned how to obey you in this world with its many temptations.ā€[2]Ā (4941)The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.Ā The words of the Lord are true; that which is good in detail is excellent in the mass; no exception may be taken to a single clause separately, or to the book as a whole. God’s judgments need no laborious excuses to justify them.   • RIGHTEOUSNESS/ RIGHT: Acting upon theĀ Divine Righteousnessthat Balances all of LifeĀ  (zedek, masculine-6664), is fromĀ zadak, to be right, upright, just, righteous. Hence the noun meansĀ rightness. By comparing the first occurrence (Leviticus 19:15) with the second (Leviticus 19:36) we get the idea that the word has special reference toĀ equal balancing.Ā ZedekĀ (masculine) occurs twelve times, and is renderedĀ righteousnessĀ : verses 123, 142 (second), 144, 172;Ā right, verse 75 (margin righteousness);Ā righteousĀ verses 7, 62, 106, 138, 160, 164;Ā justice, verse 121.Ā ZedakahĀ (feminine), first occurrence, Genesis 15:6. STATUTE tells of Divine directions designed to secure obedience or check disobedience.Ā  `Statutes’ refer elsewhere to civil and religious appointments of the Mosaic law. This is fearing God, lovingly acknowledging by my actions God sees me.Ā Enduring forever.Ā Filth brings decay, but cleanness is the great foe of corruption. The grace of God in the heart being a pure principle is also an abiding and incorruptible principle, which may be crushed for a time, but cannot be utterly destroyed. it will cleanse our way, Ps. 119:9. And itĀ endureth for ever;Ā it is of perpetual obligation and can never be repealed. The ceremonial law is long since done away, but the law concerning the fear of God is ever the same. In Psalm 119 this word occurs in v. 30; 75; 86; 90; 138.TheĀ lawĀ that is established steady, confirmed, and ordered in all things, and sure; which should beĀ believedĀ on the authority of God, andĀ trustedĀ to as an infallibleĀ testimonyĀ from Him who cannotĀ lieĀ nor deceive. Faithfulness, hnwma emunah: nor does it appear in Ps 119:90, where it occurs, to be used as a characteristic of God’sĀ law, but rather his exact fulfilment of hisĀ promisesĀ to man. Remember Ezra faced a worldly congregation, soaked in all the worldly ways of Babylon and Persia. What was his plan to bring about lasting change in those he served? He started with his own life. He learned to point his heart frequently toward doing God’s Will.

 

 

So how do we adopt Ezra’s strategy? Here are so elements to practice getting alone with God.

  • START WITH HIM: Try to spend at least 12 minutes each day in reading God’s Word and seeking to find one truth to hold on to all day long.
  • SPEAK WITH HIM: From that time alone with God, think through your entire day. Ask HIM what would be the best use of your life for this day.
  • STOP WITH HIM: Try to also get in the habit of a weekly time of evaluation. Just a half hour reflecting on where you are, and where you are headed in life and ministry.
  • STAY WITH HIM: Finally, try one time of strategic planning each month, to truly reflect on life for a couple of hours. Take a spiritual retreat. Sit with a pad of paper, your calendar, and an open Bible. List your priorities for the next month. Pray over them, change them, decide upon them and then do them!

 

 

 

 

Meditation meant Ezra ā€œpreparedā€Ā Ezra 7:10 For Ezra had preparedĀ (to establish, set up, accomplish, make firm; to direct toward (moral sense); to arrange, order)Ā his heart to seekĀ (to resort to, frequent (a place); to consult, to investigate, to ask for, require; to practice, study, follow)Ā the Law of he Lord, and to doĀ (to observe, celebrate, to acquire)Ā it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.

The result? Psalm 119 is Ezra’s testimony and also probably the content of his teaching and preaching to the exiles that came home to seek the Lord in Jerusalem!

 

How did Ezra do this on a consistent basis? By meditation. Remember Meditation is a soul that thirsts and drinks of God in His Word; that longs for the waters of life and drinks them of God in His Word; that drinks from an ever present oasis in the arid, sun baked, lifeless deserts of life through finding and communing with God in His Word.

 

Seven times Ezra confesses his secret, it is called meditation (after finding God’s Word and eating it – then we digest or meditate upon it). Here is his pathway:

 

  • PURIFYING MEDITATION PURIFIES OUR LIVES, look at v.9. Psalm 119:15 I will meditate onĀ Your precepts, And contemplateĀ Your ways.
  • ILLUMINATING MEDITATION ENCOURAGES OUR HEART – look at v. 18. Psalm 119:23 Princes also sit and speak against me, But Your servant meditates onĀ Your statutes.
  • REFRESHING MEDITATION FOCUSES OUR LIFE – look at v. 25. Psalm 119:27 Make me understand the way ofĀ Your precepts; So shall I meditate onĀ Your wonderful works.
  • TESTIFYING MEDITATION DRAWS US TO God’s Word –Ā  look at v. 46. Psalm 119:48 My hands also I will lift up toĀ Your commandments, Which I love, And I will meditate onĀ Your statutes.

Ezra in Psalm 119 list of resolves “I have . . .”

 

Meditation is a soul that thirsts and drinks of God in His Word; that longs for the waters of life and drinks them of God in His Word; that drinks from an ever present oasis in the arid, sun baked, lifeless deserts of life through finding and communing with God in His Word.

 

So how did they do it? How were those with so little, able to live such godly lives in such a barren, inhospitable wilderness world? How did they live through so much trouble, hardship and adversity?

 

We must learn to discipline every part of our lives. Our time is one of the first that needs our attention as one gifted writer puts it:

 

If the[6]Ā Christian is too busy to stop, take spiritual inventory, and receive his assignments from God, he becomes a slave to the tyranny of the urgent. He may work day and night to achieve much that seems significant to himself and others, but he will not finish the work God has for him to do.

 

One habit sets each of these apart from the rest of the world. They each practicedĀ the Simple Discipline of Meditation. How did they do it? Were there keys books, seminars, tapes, study guides…no, they just grasped a truth from God and wouldn’t let go of it.

 

 

Meditation meantĀ Enoch ā€œwalked ā€œ Genesis 5:22, 24 After he begot Methuselah,Ā Enoch walked with GodĀ three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.Ā Who do you think was following whom? Do you really think that this means that a big glowing cloud of Shekinah glory tailed Enoch? I don’t think so. Actually it means that God was invited into every part of Enoch’s life. All day long at every meeting, every stop, every call, every situation – The Lord Himself was a part of it all. Has the Lord been invited into every part of your life?

 

Meditation meantĀ Noah ā€œdidā€ Genesis 6:22 Thus Noah did;Ā according to all that God commanded him, so he did.Ā What God had said — Noah remembered. What God had said — Noah kept thinking about. What God had said — Noah obediently did! Have you remembered, thought about, and acted upon THE LAST TRUTH YOU LEARNED when God spoke to you (through the voices of His apostles and prophets in God’s Word)? Were you listening to God or just reading?

 

Meditation meantĀ Job ā€œfearedā€ Job 1:8 Then the Lord said to Satan, ā€œHave you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shunsĀ (turns away; puts aside; departs from)Ā evil?ā€Ā Ā Job knew what God wanted and did it. Job knew what God hated and avoided it. Job knew God was watching and acted like it. Have you found and done that from God’s Word

 

Meditation meantĀ Abraham ā€˜builtā€ Genesis 12:7 Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, ā€œTo your descendants I will give this land.ā€ And there he builtĀ (established; constructed)Ā an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.Ā Abraham marked out reminders of what God had revealed to him. Abraham wanted to remember what God said. He made special time consuming efforts to never forget what God has done, what God had promised, what God expected. Altars marked the big events of his walk with the Lord. Do you listen and mark clearly God’s plans for you. Are you remembering or forgetting?

 

Meditation meantĀ Moses ā€œsoughtā€ Exodus 33:13 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.ā€Ā Moses knew the Lord because he sought the Lord. God told him ā€˜you will seek and find Me when you seek with (what) ALL your heart’. And Moses did seek with all his heart to know the Lord. And Moses did find and know the Lord like no one else. God sits day after day ready to speak to you and me as long as we will listen. Just pick up the receiver, open the cover, turn your eyes onto the pages of God’s Word and hear His voice. Are you seeking Him with ALL your heart?

 

Meditation meantĀ Joshua ā€œstayedā€ Exodus 33:11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle. Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.ā€Ā Joshua stayed on with the Lord. He loved to hang around the Tent of Meeting with God. He loved God’s Word to stay on his mind and in his mouth. And he purposed that no matter what any other family did, his was staying faithful to the Lord. Now that resolve only was possible because of the first two. Are you lingering in God’s presence as He opens His Word to you? Are God’s Words stuck to your heart, your mind, your mouth? That is what the Lord wants!

 

Meditation meant Ruth ā€œclungā€Ā Ruth 1:16-17 But Ruth said: ā€œEntreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.ā€Ā Ruth was going to hang on for dear life. She found the truth. She met the God of Heaven. Everything else – family, friends, future – everything else peeled away. One thing stayed – the revelation of God. That was what she clung to, sought for, and wouldn’t give up – for anything. Is there any doubt why God made her the great –grandmother of the Man after God’s own heart David? I guess we can say as the New Testament says Jesus is the son of David. And if so then Jesus is the great-great grandson of Ruth. Just think what unbelievable things God will do with you if you decide today to cling to Him.

 

Meditation meant Hannah ā€œimmersedā€ – in prayerĀ :1 Samuel 1:10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish;Ā and in the WordĀ (she quotes 6 Old Testament passages in one prayer quoting from Job 36; Exodus 15; Deuteronomy 4, 8, and 32 twice)Ā  1 Samuel 2:1-10 And Hannah prayed and said: ā€œMy heart rejoices in the Lord; My horn is exalted in the Lord. I smile at my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation.

  • 2 ā€œNo one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God. Exodus 15:11 ā€œWho is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders? Deuteronomy 4:35 To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord Himself is God; there is none other besides Him.Ā  Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.
  • 6 ā€œThe Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up.Ā Deuteronomy 32:39 ā€˜Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.
  • 7 The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up. Deuteronomy 8:17 then you say in your heart, ā€˜My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’
  • 8 He raises the poor from the dust And lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set them among princes And make them inherit the throne of glory. ā€œFor the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, And He has set the world upon them.Ā Job 36:7 He does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous; But they are on the throne with kings, For He has seated them forever, And they are exalted. Job 38:4-6 ā€œWhere were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? 6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,
  • 9 He will guard the feet of His saints, But the wicked shall be silent in darkness. ā€œFor by strength no man shall prevail.
  • 10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; From heaven He will thunder against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. ā€œHe will give strength to His king, And exalt the horn of His anointed.ā€

 

Here is a woman in a difficult home situation, far from spiritual help, missing out on the greatest joys of life because she was childless – and she channels all that potential grief and self-pity into seeking God. Here is a woman with limited resources, limited time, limited exposure to God’s Word who immerses herself in God. She seeks for and gets 7 verses and meditates on them so long that they spill out into her prayers. And beyong that, the truth she discovers by her meditation is captured by the Spirit of God and recorded in God’s Word. And this woman who immersed herself in God in the Old Testament become the role model, hero, and mentor of the greatest woman of the Bible – Mary mother of Jesus. In Luke it is Mary who quotes Hannah who quotes her meditations upon God in prayer. Are you immersing yourself in God’s Word? Are they spilling from your life?

 

Meditation meant David ā€œseeks longinglyā€Ā Psalm 63:1-2 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek (to seek early or earnestly, look early or diligently for) You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs (to long for, faint, faint with longing; The word[7]Ā seems to mean ā€œhas gone blindā€, or ā€œgone darkā€. How vivid Hebrew poetry is! Then seek is a most revealing verb. Basically it means longing for the first light of the dawn.Ā ) for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. 2 So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.

 

Meditation meant Elijah ā€œlistenedā€ 1 Kings 19:12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

 

 

Meditation meant Daniel ā€œpurposedā€Ā Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposedĀ (to put in place, set, appoint, make; to direct toward; to establish, determine, fix, to bring to pass)Ā in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

 

Often however we don’t hear the voice of the Lord in His Word because our lives are too full and too complex. One of the best ways to experience the discipline of meditation – and the immense rewards that it will bring to our lives, is to practice a spiritual fast.

 

In front of an open Bible. A modern spiritual Goliath was George Mueller. His life may be distilled down to these words he wrote in a diary:

It has[8]Ā pleased the Lord to teach me a truth, the benefit of which I have not lost for more than 14 years. The point is this: I saw more clearly than ever that the first great and primary business to which I ought to attend every day was, to have my soul happy in the Lord. The first thing to be concerned about was not how much I might serve the Lord, or how I might glorify the Lord; but how I might get my soul into a happy state, and how my inner man might be nourished…Before this time my practice had been, at least for ten years previously, as a habitual thing, to give myself to prayer in the morning. Now I saw that the most important thing I had to do was to give myself to the reading of the Word of God, and to the meditation on it, that thus my heart might be comforted, encouraged, warned, reproved and instructed; and that thus, by means of the Word of God, while meditating on it, my heart might be brought into experimental communion with the Lord.

 

Getting alone with God can be at any time: Don’t let your schedule hold you back. Jesus doesn’t teach us about the times of prayer – because we are to pray at all times.Ā  In the Bible, people got alone with God at all different times:

ü  God asked those who were His personal representatives, the priests, to get alone with Him every evening and every morning 1 Chronicles 23:30 to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at evening;

ü  Daniel — one of the busiest administrators of the Old Testament, was also a towering giants among the Old Testament saints. The key to his life from just a teenager? He was in the habit of getting alone with God three times a day.Ā  Daniel 6:10Ā  Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God,Ā as was his custom since early days.

ü  The Psalmist says we should get alone with our Great God today.Ā  Psalm 95:6, 8 Oh come,Ā let us worshipĀ and bow down;Ā Let us kneelĀ before the Lord our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: 8 ā€œDo not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness,

ü  Jeremiah confesses he had learned to get alone with God in his youthJeremiah 3:4 Will you not from this time cry to Me, ā€˜My Father, You are theĀ guide of my youth?

ü  Moses said a good time to remember to get alone with God is after enjoying the bounties of a good meal Deuteronomy 8:10 When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you.

 

don’t let your troubles hold you back from getting alone with god.Ā Ā Jesus doesn’t teach us about the circumstances of solitude – because any circumstance will do as a place to get alone with God.Ā  In the Bible, people are seen getting alone with God in all kinds of circumstances:

 

ü  When Jesus was so burdened that He was loudly crying He got alone with God in Gethsemane. Hebrews 5:7 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,

ü  When Job was so incapacitated that he had to resort to sitting in ashes, and shaving his head for painful sores, he learned even there he could get alone with God (Job 1:20-21; 2:8). Job 1:20-21 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said: ā€œNaked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.ā€
