A DISCIPLES CONSECRATION: We come to our last lesson in Discipleship. Today we will see a disciples CONSECRATION. As we have traced the pathway Jesus left for all His disciples to follow we have learned so much.
Our map has been Mark 8:34-35.
v. 34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them,
-“Whoever desires to come after Me = The 1st week we learned the DEFINITION or DESCRIPTION of DISCIPLESHIP IS FOLLOWING JESUS
-let him deny himself, = The 2nd week we learned the DENUNCIATION of DISCIPLESHIP IS SELF-DENIAL FOR JESUS
-and take up his cross, = The 3rd week we learned the DEDICATION of DISCIPLESHIP IS CROSS BEARING FOR JESUS
-and follow Me. = The 4th week we learned the DIRECTION of DISCIPLESHIP IS FOLLOWING JESUS
-v. 35 “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. . = The 5th week we learned the DESTINATION of DISCIPLESHIP IS LIVING FOR JESUS
-Finally this morning to tie all these elements together. How do we stay on the path Jesus left for us? Listen to one Jesus personally taught. Listen to his words when he got back from 3 years on a wilderness retreat with Christ, Paul’s 1st letter written to the Galatians.
