– In brief it crystalizes our FUTURE JOY OF HOMEGOING

You remember chapter one as it emphasized our PRESENT HOPE OF SALVATION.

There are two vital aspects we learned:
1] In salvation we were wondrously placed into a divine position that MAKES us:

LOOK AGAIN AT I THESS. 1
v. 1 = Secure in the Father
Submissive to Christ as Lord

v. 6 = Energized by the Holy Spirit
Â
v. 9 = Serving the living and true God
Â
v. 10 = Waiting for His Son

Secondly, chapter one not only emphasizes that divine position, it also reminds us of our DIVINE CONDITION reflected by Paul! What does he do in v. 2 ?

Yes – GIVES THANKS.
Remember that condition? It has 5 elements we can call the ELEMENTS OF GODLY THANKSGIVING.
